Phoenix Brown LPC, NCC

I'm excited to join you on your journey to increased health, happiness, and fulfillment! I believe whole-heartedly in human resiliency and have focused my practice on highlighting the strengths of my clients. We all have behaviors that served us at one point in time, my role is simply to ask "How is this serving you now?". My aim as a clinician is never to build reliance or to minimize the amazing person that you are! I focus on work, that will challenge you, build up your already strong internal resources, and then offer a neutral ear as you begin applying your new way of being (Hey! Everyone needs to troubleshoot any new skill).

When working with children I emphasize holistic care and entering the world of the child through play! I have found that all children, including my neuro-diverse clients learn and process through interactive skills building.

Intersectional, cultural competency is at the forefront of my work. You are not an island, you are a being with connections to the outer world and I will always strive to understand how our worlds are similar and how they differ. Iā€™m passionate about serving und underrepresented groups in the mental health world, and am LGBTQA/Poly/Queer affirming.

Professionally, I have worked in private practice, elementary and middle schools, outpatient, and residential treatment facilities. I originally focused on Autism Spectrum Disorder in children and families, but through my work in the residential treatment system have expanded my passion and experience to working with trauma, depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, and attachment issues. In this setting I work with adults, children/adolescents, families, and couples from a wide variety of backgrounds. I received my Bachelors degree from the University of Wyoming, with an emphasis in abnormal psychology. My clinical training began at the University of Northern Colorado, where I received a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am fully licensed in the state of Colorado and also hold the special credential of National Certified Counselor. Continuous growth and education is a personal value of mine, and I participate in monthly skills trainings in order to better serve my clients.
