<image:caption>I'm excited to join you on your journey to increased health, happiness, and fulfillment! I believe whole-heartedly in human resiliency and have focused my practice on highlighting the strengths of my clients. We all have behaviors that served us at one point in time, my role is simply to ask "How is this serving you now?". My aim as a clinician is never to build reliance or to minimize the amazing person that you are! I focus on work, that will challenge you, build up your already strong internal resources, and then offer a neutral ear as you begin applying your new way of being (Hey! Everyone needs to troubleshoot any new skill). When working with children I emphasize holistic care and entering the world of the child through play! I have found that all children, including my neuro-diverse clients learn and process through interactive skills building. Intersectional, cultural competency is at the forefront of my work. You are not an island, you are a being with connections to the outer world and I will always strive to understand how our worlds are similar and how they differ. I’m passionate about serving und underrepresented groups in the mental health world, and am LGBTQA/Poly/Queer affirming. Professionally, I have worked in private practice, elementary and middle schools, outpatient, and residential treatment facilities. I originally focused on Autism Spectrum Disorder in children and families, but through my work in the residential treatment system have expanded my passion and experience to working with trauma, depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, and attachment issues. In this setting I work with adults, children/adolescents, families, and couples from a wide variety of backgrounds. I received my Bachelors degree from the University of Wyoming, with an emphasis in abnormal psychology. My clinical training began at the University of Northern Colorado, where I received a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am fully licensed in the state of Colorado and also hold the special credential of National Certified Counselor. Continuous growth and education is a personal value of mine, and I participate in monthly skills trainings in order to better serve my clients. <image:caption>*Currently accepting new in-person and telehealth (virtual) clients* There seems to be a fundamental mismatch between the demands of the modern world around us, and the equipment that we have to navigate it all (the thinking mind & the feeling body). You are right to want connection, purpose, authenticity, and safety. But life and its inevitable wounds—things like trauma, loss, shame, chronic stress & overwhelm—can pull you out of alignment and alone. You cope with this pain using some strategies that work well, and others that leave you feeling more disconnected. Good therapy can help you compost this struggle and grow a more beautiful, resilient, and congruent life. Anyone willing to be vulnerable enough to evolve is worthy of great respect in my opinion. My role is to support folks in healing from life’s wounds so they can lead better lives and inspire the same courage in others. Fundamentally, I believe that his is how we heal: together. If you feel stuck, out of control, disconnected, or hopeless, please know that there are paths to feeling whole. Whether we end up working together or not, my wish for you on a human level is that you nourish that ember of hope, however small it might be right now. If you are interested in learning more about my therapeutic approach, please keep reading below. If you would like to connect, please don’t hesitate to reach out for a free consultation. My Approach I graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Since then I have received specialized training in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and EMDR Therapy. I have invested in learning these tools because they work; They are considered gold standards for treating trauma and related concerns such as anxiety, depression, panic, etc. I utilize these modalities as well as Person-Centered, Solution focused, and Existential approaches to help remove the barriers between you and the life that you deserve. I work with adult clients as well as young adults (teens) trying to figure out just how and who to be in this strange world of ours. I am also committed to intersectional cultural competence; LGBTQ+ and BIPOC individuals fighting the good fight—you deserve support and Ember Wellness Services welcomes you. On a personal note… Many people share the frustration of trying to find the right therapist. This search can be draining on your time, money, and willpower. For this reason I want to name a few of my own core values as a therapist for your information, with the intention of supporting your search for the right fit: 1) Be a real human. Connection heals, and my mission is to provide gritty, authentic healing for the modern world. 2) Helping is sacred. I have (and continue to) put in the work to build an evidenced-based clinical toolset and take the privilege of helping others through therapy very seriously. 3) Never pass up a good opportunity to laugh. At its very best, good therapy can allow you to compost your suffering and grow a beautiful life in these rich soils. Tears can be an important part of this process, but so can laughter. <image:caption>How it works In a reconnect therapy session I don’t leave my clinical training and experience behind; I don’t ditch my evidenced-based practices, treatment plans, and clinical license back at the office. This program is for those who are looking for psychotherapy, minus the fluorescent lights and office walls. Reconnect sessions take place in quiet, comfortable outdoor locations in the Denver/Golden area front range and are accessible to all outdoor experience and ability levels. While we love the action oriented outdoor activities (hiking, running, climbing, etc.), these sessions are seated and the work lies not in pushing yourself physically, but rather exploring your inner ecosystem of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Just as we would with indoor therapy, we will collaborate in creating impactful therapeutic goals, and work together to identify and address the barriers that stand between you and a happier life.
